Airports in Morocco: Decrease of air traffic in June

Airports in Morocco last June showed a decline of 2.69 pc of the number of passengers carried compared to the same period the previous year, according to latest statistics released by the National Office of Airports (ONDA).

In total, the number of passengers passing through airports in Morocco during this period reached 1.24 million, of which 593,158 passengers recorded at the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca (-0.7 pc), 262,347 at the airport Marrakech-Menara (2.3 pc) and 114,031 at the airport Agadir Al Massira (-5.4 pc).

Moreover, in the last six months of the year, passenger traffic shrank by 5.5 pc compared to the same period of 2011.

During the month of June, international traffic appears down slightly by 0.6 pc over the same period the previous year, with 1.13 million passengers, while domestic traffic shows a drop of 20.4 pc during the same period.

As for aircraft movements, they reached during the month of June 11,644, a decrease of 8.1 pc over the same period the previous year.

Mohammed V airport is at the top of this traffic with 49.6 pc, followed by 18.4 pc Marrakech-Menara and Agadir Al Massira by 8.7 pc.

For its part, freight traffic has appreciated last June from 4.17 pc from the same period the previous year, reaching 4362.98 against 4188.32 tonnes in 2011.
