Alba welcomes high level trade delegation from Morocco.Aluminium Bahrain (Alba)'s commitment to enlarging business opportunities with commercial organisations in Morocco, and supporting enhanced trade links between Bahrain, Morocco and other North African countries was discussed during a recent visit of a high-level Moroccan trade delegation to the Alba plant.
The delegation comprised Counsellor from the Moroccan Embassy, Younes Najjar, President of the Laayoune-Boujdour Chamber of Commerce & Industry, El Moussaoui Sidi Tayeb Oueld Abdulla and the President of the Casablanca Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Hassane Berkani.
They met Alba's Chief Operating Officer, Mohammed Mahmood, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Isa Al Ansari, and Human Resource & Training and Acting Public Relations Manager, Abdul Rahman Mohd Janahi. The delegation was given a presentation on Alba's production process and was briefed on its status as a pioneer in aluminium production in the Gulf, its strict environmental and safety safeguards, its support to employment opportunities for Bahrainis, and its contribution to the national economy. Commenting on the visit of the Moroccan trade delegation, Alba Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said: "As one of the pioneers in aluminium production in the Arab world and the first ever smelter in the Gulf region, Alba takes great pride in strengthening and expanding trade relationship with business organisations in the Middle East and North Africa. We are confident that the region will achieve its goal of achieving 14 per cent of the global share of aluminium production in the next four years." "The meeting with the Moroccan trade delegation was extremely fruitful, and involved discussions on enhancing the already strong trade relations between Bahrain and Morocco. We also discussed ways in which Alba could contribute in strengthening commercial and technological cooperation with industrial bodies in Morocco." The delegation was later given a tour of the Alba plant and was shown the state-of-the art production processes that have enabled Alba to maintain its status as one of the region's major aluminium smelters.
