Marilyn Hacker (poetryfoundation.org)
American poetess Marilyn Hacker won the international Argana poetry award 2011, granted by Morocco’s Bayt Achiir (House of Poetry).
The award was created in 2002 as a sign of poetic friendship from Moroccan poets to one of their fellow poets around the world. Bayt Achiir said, in a statement, it was keen to explore, by granting the award to Hacker, new horizons and establish openness to other poetry experiences in today’s world. Born in 1942, Hacker is a professor of French literature at the City University of New York. She has authored “Presentation Piece” (1974), “Separations” (1976), “Winter Numbers” (1994), “La Différence” (2004) and “Essays on Departure” (2006). Yacout Info - MAP
