Arab countries invited to the Paris Conference on the future of Libya (Quai d'Orsay)

The Arab countries will be invited to the International Conference on the future of Libya, scheduled for 1 st-September in Paris, at the initiative of France and the UK, the Quai d'Orsay announced on Thursday..

 "France and the UK have  invited, the Arab countries at the highest level  who are directly affected by the previous phase but also those who wish to participate in the reconstruction of Libya," said the spokesman for the Quai d Orsay, Bernard Valero, during his daily briefing.

He believes that countries neighboring Libya "will have a key role to play the new support Libya in its transition."

"That is why they will be invited to the conference from the 1st September, allowing them to show their solidarity with Libya post Gaddafi," he said.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced on Wednesday evening, following a meeting with the Prime Minister of the National Transitional Council (CNT) of Libya, Mahmoud Jibril, the convening of this conference which aims to "prepare the post-Qadhafi "and goes" well beyond the single contact group. "

He cited among the countries to invite China, Russia, Brazil and India.

Created in London on March 29, the Contact Group on Libya includes thirty countries and several international organizations including the UN, the European Union and the Arab League.
