CCEM, Euromed Cultural Center of Morocco, chaired by Mr Aziz Cherkaoui, will organise in Marrakech, a major reception-conference on 12 February 2010 in honour of a great lady in the history of Morocco, Ms. Saadia Alami.

Created four years ago in Marrakech at the initiative of the city of Tours, in the context of a decentralized cooperation agreement between the two cities CCEM is the principal bearer of the "Arab - Andalusian Heritage in the European Culture".

The centre is a member of the Network of European Cultural Centers (CEC), whose headquarters are in St. Jean d'Angely (Charente). It is the winner of the 2003 European Prize for Culture and Communication and the Network of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (Luxembourg).

CCEM's objective is to increase activities aimed at cultural exchanges between the two Mediterranean shores, and with this perspective to develop a reflexive dimension on dialogue with others, while promoting the principles of tolerance, curiosity and the greed for knowledge.

In this context, CCEM will be organizing this conference in honour of a great lady in the history of Morocco, who lived through one of the most important transition periods in Morocco: Ms. Saadia Alami.

Ms. Saadia Alami, a resistance patriot at an early age, she was the wife of the late Mohamed Zerktouni and was at his side on the day of his arrest and his suicide, then remarried a few years later to Hajj Mohamed Chouhaidi, former president of the court of Marrakech until his retirement.

This event will help shed light on some of the pioneers of Moroccan resistance, both of whom invested their lives and souls for their country.
