She is also in charge of the visa section and visa appications for Moroccans wishing to visit the UK and ensuring a high standard of service for this service. Last year saw the highest number of visas issued to Moroccans visiting the UK ever. There are now 9 to 10,000 Moroccans visiting the UK a year and this is a consistant figure.

The visa application for Moroccan citzens wishing to visit the UK is completed on line and Charlotte recommends that applicants read all information on the website carefully before completing the on line application form. Once the form is received on line, they must make an appointment to come to the Embassy in Rabat to bring a hard copy of their application and any supporting documentation and to pay their fee and have their finger prints taken. A specific time is given for the meeting so that they can avoid queuing outside the visa section at the Embassy in Rabat. Charlotte emphasises that this is not an interview process and all decisions will be made on paper.

She comments that generally most Moroccan visa applications are of a very high standard . Those applying for a visa should ensure that they provide all the information required by reading the relevant details on the website. If they know what details they have to provide before applying this will help to ensure that the application process goes forward more smoothly. The appointment system ensures that applicants are seen quickly without having to queue outside. This is important because more Moroccans are applying for visas to visit the UK. " We strive to provide the best possible service to Moroccans".

She will be in Morocco for a four year tour of duty and has visited the consular offices in Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir and now Marrakech.
