People dress differently during Ramadan and change their everyday clothing . Thus women and men swap their leather jackets and dresses for traditional wear such as djellabas which are generally white.
At home, the caftan for women and tunics worn by Saharan men are common. Outside, that is to say in public, generally the djellaba is worn by everyone. They wear this to celebrate holy days as is normal on Friday. It is also an opportunity to leave the children at night, after the Eid al-Fitr or take them to the mosque to learn the ritual of prayer. It may be noted that during the month of Ramadan, mosques are usually full of the faithful, especially on the eve of the 27th month, a legendary evening, laden with symbolic religious and spiritual importance, as recommended elsewhere in the Qur'an. Meanwhile the clothing market experiences a rush to buy traditional dress which traders find little demand apart from the Ramadan period.
Suffice to say that the month of Ramadan is like a feast where religious tolerance and generosity are enshrined in slogans, revealing the spirit of Ramadan in all its dimensions.
