In this connection, the two parties agreed, on the occasion of the 7th session of the Moroccan-European Union Association Council, on a number of measures to implement the new status in the short and medium term.
The joint report adopted by the parties is meant to define the partnership between them in the years to come and prepare a new contractual framework in line with Morocco's achievements and assets and in light with regional and international challenges.
The new status is the outcome of a strong and sustained development of relations between the two partners and heralds a new phase in which a special Moroccan-EU partnership will be broadened to include new areas of cooperation.
It attests to Europe's confidence in and esteem for Morocco’s strategic choices.
At the political level, Morocco and the EU decided to launch a Political and Strategic Dialogue and to institutionalise discussions between their respective parliaments, which will be held on a regular basis.
At the economic level, the two parties aim to promote Morocco's steady integration in the EU market.
Thanks to this status, the current dynamic Moroccan economy is expected to accelerate, through a number of measures and incentives. It will also allow for a wider involvement of Morocco with trans-European industry sectors (energy, transport ...etc.)
As regards the human dimension, the joint report aims to promote cooperation in training and research, encourage partnerships between research institutions and develop technological platforms involving businesses.
The decision to grant Morocco the Advanced Status shows the EU will to support Morocco in its promotion of democracy and human rights, economic modernisation, social cohesion and human development.
