The 8th edition of the Mediterranean Festival of Amazigh Culture, “Twiza”, opened on Thursday in Tangier under the theme “freedom is the human identity”.
The four-day event is an opportunity to promote dialogue between the cultures of the Mediterranean region through a panoply of cultural and artistic events.
The opening ceremony of this year’s edition was livened up by music performances by the Frères Al-Akkaf” and “Atchal” as well as Georgian choreography performed by the Lashkari group.
Several artists from the Amazigh speaking world and the Mediterranean will entertain music fans during this festival which also features conferences on issues relating to the organic law on the officialisation of the Amazigh language.
The festival will also pay special tribute to the late Moroccan writer Mohamed Choukri.
