Hillary Clinton to visit Morocco on February 25-26
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit Morocco on 25 and 26 February as part of a tour that will also lead her to Tunisia, Algeria and the UK, said a statement Tuesday evening of the Department State.
During her trip in the Kingdom, Clinton will meet with the head of government, Abdelillah Benkirane and representatives of civil society, said State Department spokesman, Victoria Nuland. The spokesman also points out that the chief U.S. diplomat will attend, February 24 and 25 in Tunisia, the first meeting of the Group of "Friends of Syria", as part of efforts "made by our partners, allies and the Syrian opposition in order to stop the killing of the Syrian people and promote a transition to democracy in this country". The U.S. Secretary of State will also hold talks with the Tunisian Prime Minister, Hamadi Jebali and members of civil society. Clinton will visit Algeria on February 25 where she will hold talks with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on several issues, including the challenges the region faces, the source said. On the eve of his journey in the three Maghreb countries, Clinton will be in Britain on February 23 , where she will attend a conference in London devoted to peace and stability in Somalia, to be chaired by British Prime Minister, David Cameron.
