In the Service of English Speaking ReadersMohamed Zkhiri *- On the occasion of our national Celebration of the Throne, and in honour of the reign of His Majesty, King Mohamed VI, we are proud to announce the launch of Yacout Info, an apolitical English-language Magazine on Marrakech and Morocco.
Reaching out to English-speakers worldwide, our magazine will serve as an independent and informative source for the improvement of Morocco's international image. Under His Majesty's guidance, our country has made important initiatives and economic progress. These measures have been much noted, welcomed and supported by the world at large. We are determined to add our own contribution to this process.
Providing an English-language forum means that our main subjects will obviously be culture and tourism; two powerful elements in the Moroccan economy. However, we will also provide useful addresses for our readers, insightful commentaries on developments in the country, and a continuously updated list of important events. Our aim is to bridge the present gap in communication between Morocco and English-speaking readers. We offer Yacout Info in English for the straightforward reason that newspapers and magazines published in Morocco have traditionally targeted French speakers. We aim to overcome this shortcoming with an English-language magazine that is completely independent and apolitical. We hope to work in partnership between our country and many others throughout the English-speaking world. Fortunately, I know these countries well because of my role in the service of the United Kingdom as Honorary British Consul. I have always felt that an English-language magazine would enhance cultural connections and communication, and work to everyone's advantage here and abroad. Within Morocco, it will certainly assist the English-speaking community already established and familiarizing itself with daily life, while externally informing, enlightening and revealing Morocco in all its splendid reality. These are the editorial guidelines of Yacout Info. They will inform our editorial approach and maintain our ongoing contact with our readers. We publish our magazine with the confidence that our beloved country, Morocco, will find new friends and long-term admirers. Welcome, to Yacout Info. * Mohamed Zkhiri
