King Mohammed VI showed great insight and wisdom in leading Morocco’s democratic, economic and constitutional development process, Conservative Party MP at the House of Commons Andrew Murrison said on Tuesday.
The year 2011 was marked by a turning point as far as Morocco’s democratic development is concerned, Murrison told MAP following a meeting with minister delegate in charge of Moroccan expatriates Abdellatif Maazouz.
He added that the Kingdom of Morocco achieved a huge progress on the path of establishing democratic practices.
These achievements foster the image of Morocco as a haven of peace and a model of stability and openness in the MENA region, he underlined, adding that the Moroccan experience sets the example for many countries.
Besides its unquestionable democratic accomplishments, Morocco is continuing, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, the implementation of a bold economic policy which helped it attain important growth rates, while other countries, including European ones, are facing a serious economic crisis, he said.
Murrison stressed that Morocco will continue to be a strong partner of the EU and the UK.
He said that the meeting with Maazouz, attended also by Labor Party deputy Hilary Ben, turned on a wide range of issues involving Morocco and the UK mainly immigration.
