London Renews Backing To Morocco’s "Farsighted Reforms"
The United Kingdom renewed Monday backing to the farsighted reforms launched by HM King Mohammed VI, while lauding the peaceful environment in which Morocco pursues its march towards more political and economic progress.

"We hail the very positive evolution of Morocco and wish to back the reforms launched by HM the King", said Alistair Burt, Foreign and Commonwealth minister for the Middle-East and North-Africa, during a reception hosted by Morocco’s ambassador to the UK, Chrifa Lalla Joumala, on the occasion of the Throne Day.

HM King Mohammed VI "has shown a great deal of farsightedness, anticipating the expectations of the people", said Mr. Burt, noting that Morocco has undertaken reforms for many years.

The reforms implemented in 2011, including the new Constitution, the new parliament and the new government, have given a new impetus to the process of change that Morocco witnessed well before the Arab Spring, he said.

This real and tangible progress makes of Morocco a model in North Africa, he added, before lauding the environment of peace in which Morocco pursues its political and economic development process.

"We laud this positive evolution and wish to support it", he said, adding that the relations between Morocco and the UK will continue to grow even deeper in the years to come.

The visit paid last year by HRH Prince Charles highlighted the depth of ties between the two kingdoms, he added, stressing the regular contacts between London and Rabat on many bilateral issues, including economic and security cooperation.

"The Throne Day in Morocco and the Diamond Jubilee in the UK are a very important occasion to celebrate the Moroccan-British friendship", he said.
