Manufacturing, Mining Sectors Pick Up In Q4 2011

Rabat – The production of manufacturing and mining sectors have recorded an increase during the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to the previous quarter, said the High Commission of Planning (HCP).

Thus 47% of companies’ chiefs in the manufacturing sector reported an increase in production, 21% a stability and 32% a fall, according to results of surveys conducted by the HCP on the achievements of 2011 and the fourth quarter forecasts for the first quarter of 2012.

This rise would result mainly to increases in output in the branches of “Food products,” the “Fabricated metal products (excluding machinery and transport equipment),” “Wood, wood products, furniture and basketry” and “Beverages and tobacco”.

Production of the mining sector would have also increased during that period, in particular following the increase in production of “Non-metallic minerals.” (MAP)
