The strengthening of cultural cooperation between Morocco and the United States has been at the centre of discussions Wednesday in Rabat between the Minister of Culture, Mr. Bensalem Himmich and the U.S. ambassador, Mr. Samuel Kaplan.
Having reviewed the situation of cultural cooperation between the two countries, the minister referred to the lasting friendship that marked bilateral relations, adding that his department's goal is to expand and diversify them, said Thursday a statement of the Ministry of Culture.
For his part, Mr. Kaplan, who described the Moroccan-US relations as "excellent", said his country is willing to develop cooperation in various fields, including music with a selection of American troops who "may travel to various regions of the country". The U.S. diplomat also cited publishing books as a field of potential projects for cooperation, through the translation of works about Moroccan culture for the benefit of Americans and the translation of American works into Arabic. Both parties, who felt that this first exchange should result in the creation of practical and fast mechanisms for the selection of projects to be implemented, agreed to a future meeting for the achievement of this commitment.
