Morocco is the guest of honor at the 26th International Book and Press Fair to be held from April 25 to 29, 2012 at Palexpo in Geneva.

Morocco, in all its cultural, artistic and human diversity marks its presence, among more than 200 countries, on a stand of 2000 suqure meters. Programming is designed on six spaces devoted to books and arts, film, food, an open museum, a youth space and a space for meetings and debates, according to a press release of The Council for the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME).

The main space, "kitab", Library & Dialogue, is devoted to the exhibition of books and catalogs in addition to Moroccan newspapers and magazines. Signing sessions will be scheduled in the presence of guest authors.

"Qalam" History and Memory is a museum space for manuscripts displaying old books on medicine, astronomy, philosophy, poetry next to coins, jewelry, fabrics and many other media artifacts marking the rich cultural heritage and history of Morocco.

"Diwan", Evasion & Discovery, will be dedicated to art books and the performing arts. Projections are provided on a giant screen depicting modern and ancient Morocco.

The space "Fonoun" Signs & Symbols will highlight the Moroccan artistic and intellectual creation through the exhibition of an important collection of works of art, design, and sculpture.

Moroccan cuisine is presented in the "Douiria" Flavors & Fragrances. The public will have the opportunity to participate in the preparation of food in shops and discover the diversity and authenticity of the Moroccan culinary art.

And finally, the space "Hiwar" Dating & Debates, allow visitors to share moments of exchange and dialogue at the roundtables organized around themes of current affairs including the Arab spring, human rights, immigration, the new constitution, censorship, the status of women and cultural diversity, and the screening of Moroccan films at the International Festival of Oriental Film in Geneva.

To mark this great turnout, Morocco offers the city of Geneva a sculpture by artist Karim Alaoui which will be exposed in a public space. A fresco of about thirty meters will be conducted throughout the period of the exhibition by Moroccan and Swissn young artists, and which will also be presented to the city of Geneva.
