Morocco: Measures to ensure wheat supply to national market
The Government will take a series of measures to ensure wheat supply to the national market, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Aziz Akhannouch told MAP.

It is high time for Morocco to open the way for wheat imports and suspends import duties on soft wheat, for four months, in order to ensure regular supply to the national market, the Minister told the press, adding that the current national wheat reserves can cover a period of three months.

The cabinet meeting adopted, on Thursday, a draft law suspending, from September 16 to December 31, 2010, import duties on soft wheat.

This decision is taken following the surge of international cereals’ prices as a result of a decrease in wheat production in several European countries, Akhannouch said.
