Bakkoury made the remark during a ceremony celebrating the world’s first solar powered intercontinental flight which was made with the landing of the Solar Impulse aircraft in Rabat-Salé airport late on Tuesday.

He said Morocco’s solar plan, which was launched in 2009, serves as a factor of “regional integration.”

He said the vision of Solar Impulse, the sun-powered aircraft, is in line with that of MASEN in the sense that the two stand as pioneering experiences that defy uncertainties.

For their parts, Solar Impulse pilots Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg commended Morocco’s efforts to promote renewable energies.

Hosted in Morocco by MASEN, Solar Impulse will make its longest flight towards Ouarzazate.
