Morocco will launch an impressive project of 500 km water transfer from basins of Ouad Lau, Loukkos and Sebou to the deficited basins of Oum Er Rbia, Tensift, and Bouregreg.
This project, which is part of the national strategy for water, includes the construction of canals, pumping stations, and pipelines.
The proposed transferable volume is about 800 million m3/year.

New life for small dams
Morocco wants to reinforce its policy of small dams in order to increase their effectiveness. Essential component of the political mobilization of water in Morocco, 80 small dams made since the late 1980s, highlighted their contribution to local development. They have helped many rural areas, often depend on climatic conditions, access to water while minimizing social upheaval and constraints such as: management of reservoirs and hydraulic equipment at the local level, structural safety, and environmental impacts related to water quality and maintenance.
