Morocco’s ‘Les chevaux de Dieux” wins Grand prix of Valladolid film festival
Feature film, les Chevaux de Dieu (God’s horses) of Morocco’s director, Nabil Ayouch, has won the Grand prix of the 57th edition of international week of cinema in Valladolid (seminci), in Spain.

The Best Director prize was awarded to Jacques Audiard for the feature, De rouille et d’os (of rust and bone), while the best actor prize was won by Elle Fanning and Greisy Mena.

Les chevaux de Dieu, which represented Morocco in the Cannes film festival, is an adaptation of the novel “Les Etoiles de Sidi Moumen” (the stars of Sidi Moumen [neighborhood]) by Mahi Binebine, which speaks on the phenomenon of terrorism. The movie was shot in Fes and Casablanca for a budget of three million euros.

Ayouch has directed a number of movies, which gained international fame, including his last work, My Land, a documentary film about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has also directed Mektoub, Ali Zaoua, which competed at the 1998 and 2001 Oscars.
