Morocco’s king begins regional tour in Saudi Arabia
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, Oct 15, 2012 (AFP)

King Mohammed VI of Morocco arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday at the start of an Arab tour, the state news agency SPA reported.

King Mohammed was to discuss ties between his North African nation and the oil-rich Gulf kingdom, SPA said, without disclosing the length of the visit.

After Saudi Arabia, the king is scheduled to travel on to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan, according to a programme released by Morocco’s royal court.

The six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council in December announced five-billion-dollar fund for development plans in Jordan and Morocco. But no practical measures have been taken to enrol them in the group since a GCC proposal in May 2011 for both countries to join.
