Morocco seeks to bring renewable energy share to 42%, head of solar energy agency
Morocco seeks to bring the share of renewable energy in meeting demand by 2020 to 42%, President of board of directors of the Moroccan Solar Energy Agency (MASEN) Mustapha Bakkoury said on Tuesday.

During the opening ceremony of the 18th SolarPaces international conference (Solar Power and Chemical Energy System), Bakkoury said the Moroccan ambitious renewable energy strategy gave concrete substance to many large-scale projects mainly a solar energy and a wind projects of 2000 MW each.

The Moroccan solar plan is striving to become a real lever for human and economic development, he added.

Director general of the institute for research in solar and renewable energy (IRESEN) Badr Ikken affirmed that Morocco was a pioneer in the field of renewable energy through the dam-building policy.

"We are fostering this strategy and setting new goals for solar and renewable energy development," he underlined.
