Zenagui received the letter on behalf of the chief of the government of Morocco, Abbas El Fassi, as the Africa Hotel Investment Conference held in Casablanca, Morocco.
Speaking at the event, WTTC president David Scowsill, stated: “Receiving the Open Letter reiterates Morocco’s long term commitment to tourism, and demonstrates the country’s leadership role in the travel and tourism industry.
“The government truly understands the impact on job creation and the positive economic impact that travel and tourism brings to global gross domestic product.”
Arthur de Haast, Global chief executive of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels and WTTC member, commented: “The receiving of the Open Letter has a special importance at this conference.
“It highlights the Moroccan government’s commitment to the hotel industry and reconfirms its pledge to the hotel network under Vision 2020.”
The inaugural Hotel Investment Conference Africa is being hosted by the Hyatt Regency Casablanca, with over 350 international delegates attending from across the hospitality sector.
Delegates include government representatives, investors and industry experts.
HICA seeks to bring together the hotel investment community and those who finance it to explore opportunities for opportunities for growth in Africa.
