Mr. Boulif has thus met with Mr. Martin Dahinden, Director General for the Swiss Cooperation (DDC) at the opening ceremony of the exhibition "the commitment of the Swiss cooperation in the field of risk management."
The Minister also met with Mr. Manuel Bessler, vice director of the DDC, in charge of humanitarian aid and head of Swiss Humanitarian body.
The discussions focused on the activities of the Cooperation Office in Morocco, the Swiss strategy developed for North Africa 2011-2016 and the commitment of the Swiss Confederation in three areas related to human rights, economic development, migration and disaster risk reduction.
Mr. Boulif also had discussions with the representative of the Global Facility for disater Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), which supports, through Swiss funding and the World Bank, Morocco's new strategy for prevention and risk management, and has confirmed its readiness to continue supporting the implementation of the Moroccan strategy.
The minister also held a meeting with Mr. Andreas Gotz, vice-president of the National Platform for Risk Management and Deputy Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Environment and Climate in charge of risk prevention and forests.
At this meeting, Mr. Boulif presented the process of preparing the strategy of Morocco since 2009 and the next steps regarding its implementation, taking into account the regional dimension, and its institutionalization. On this occasion, the two sides agreed to develop cooperation on the basis of the Swiss experience for the establishment of a national platform for risk management in Morocco.
During a plenary session on risk management policies of the countries, the Minister presented the case of Morocco and the status of preparation of its new approach, the first phase is close to completion. This phase focused on the evaluation of major hazards such as earthquakes and floods and the development of software (GIS) to estimate the potential impacts of strategic infrastructure, population and economy in general.
Morocco was praised by participants for its commitment and the quality of work to establish a comprehensive and integrated policy taking into account risk management at the ommunity level for the protection of the most vulnerable populations. Morocco has also been approached by several representatives of participating countries to share its experience in risk management.
The Moroccan delegation composed of Mrs. Bencheqroun head pole relations with the World Bank and Cooperation and Mohamed Tabyaoui, from the Ministry of General Affairs and Governance, were invited by Mr. Martyn Parker, Chairman of the Global Partnerships of the reinsurance company Swiss Re for a working lunch on the possibilities of cooperation in the field of natural hazards insurance.
The technical details of the Moroccan project, the results achieved and the next steps for the preparation and implementation of the strategy were presented at a parallel session of the Forum by Mr. Mohamed Tabyaoui of the Ministry of General Affairs and Governance.
The Moroccan delegation also participated in several plenary sessions and parallel sessions dealing with various topics in the field of risk management involving Morocco. The delegation also met with other delegations and international organizations, and private scientists interested in the Moroccan experience.
