Oman, Morocco boost ties
MUSCAT — The Sultanate and Morocco yesterday singed the minutes of the first meeting of their political consultation committee.
The minutes were signed, from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, and from the Moroccan side by Yousef Amrani, Minister-Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Co-operation of Morocco.

The session of political consultation was held within the framework of activating the Memorandum Of Understanding to form a committee for political consultation between the two sides which was signed in June 2006. The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, fields of the common concern and means of supporting and promoting them to serve the joint interests of the two countries. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues.

The session was attended from the Moroccan side by Tariq al Hasisn, Ambassador of Morocco to the Sultanate, while it was attended from the Omani side by Shaikh Mohammed bin Omar al Marhoon, Deputy Head of the Arab Co-operation Department, Saif bin Nassir al Bada’ei, Deputy Head of the Arab Levant Department, and officials from both sides.

Meanwhile, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, received in his Office here yesterday Yousef Amrani, Minister-Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Co-operation in Morocco.
The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and means of promoting them in various fields,
as well as exchanged views on the international and regional issues.

Meanwhile, Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education, received here yesterday Yousef Amrani, Minister-Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Co-operation in Morocco and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed joint co-operation between the Sultanate and Morocco in education and scientific research.
Dr Al Busaidiya commended the efforts exerted to enhance relations between the two countries in the field of education and scientific research.

She affirmed that there are a number of projects in which the two sides can enhance co-operation, stressing the importance of signing agreements that would pave the way for further co-operation and contribute in availing joint scientific and research projects.

She talked about the projects of Oman University and the Science and Technology City, which the Sultanate works to set up during the upcoming period. The meeting affirmed on activating students and academic exchange between the two countries.
The Moroccan minister said the political consultation will strengthen relations between the two countries and contribute in availing a common ground for exchange of programmes which will benefit both. — ONA
