Pakistan keen to strengthen ties with Morocco: Bukhari

Chairman Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari on Wednesday said Pakistan wants to further strengthen its relations with brotherly country Morocco through exchange of delegations at every level.

In a meeting with Chief Justice of Morocco Mostafa Farees along with a four-member delegation at the Parliament House here, he said this practice would enhance mutual understanding and generate unanimity of views on regional and international issues.

He said Pakistan has great respect for Morocco and it takes Moroccan people at high esteem as both the countries share religious and spiritual relations which can assist in further cementing bilateral ties.

“People to people contacts will be more beneficial for both the countries and I hope in the future also the relation will be more cordial and friendly,” he added.He also informed the delegates about Pakistan’s political system, legislature and judiciary.

About political system, he said, Pakistan’s political history has passed through different phases and with struggle of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who sacrificed her life for people of Pakistan and democracy, Pakistan has now parliamentary democratic system after 2008 elections.

He said for the first time in history of the country, Parliament has completed its 4th year. President Asif Ali Zardari has become first ever president, who has addressed joint session of the Parliament 5th time consecutively.

The Chairman observed that there exists immense potential for cooperation in various sectors and we can learn from each others’ experience particularly in legislature, judiciary and economic sectors in order to improve governance for better service delivery to the public.

Chief Justice of Morocco said: “We Moroccans have deep love in our hearts for Pakistan and its people. We cannot forget Pakistan’s support and assistance for liberating Morocco from imperial forces.”

He told the chairman about legislature and judicial system of Morocco and stressed the need for frequent bilateral exchanges. Earlier, he congratulated Nayyar Bokhari for his unopposed election as Senate Chairman.
