Regionalisation

Regionalisation
Morocco, because of its geographical location and historical connections benefits from being a link between North and South. It is also a part of the Arab world and its proximity and active engagement with The EU, as evidenced by the new special status agreement and a highly influential role in the Euromed area .

Morocco also has very close connections with Africa and a strong and extensive investment programme in many African countries. These elements have played an important role in its diversity and enrichment of its culture and civilisation.

To further advance this positive diversity and to standardise development in the regions by developing the economy and social development, the Kingdom has put much emphasis on regionalism as shown in His Majesty King Mohamed VI's recent speech highlighting his vision on devolution so that decisions can be made by local authorities for their region.

This policy aims to concentrate on the richness and diversity of each region while complementing each other and converging their development in order to advance the Kingdom's economic growth from the north in the Mediterranean to to south in the Sahara.

The various regions will be able to interact with each other and provide mutual support for their needs to benefit the country as a whole and achieve a structure for local and national development which is uniquely Moroccan, thus preserving their local traditions and culture and their national identity.

The cultural diversity of Morocco's regions is a great asset and will add to the dynamism of their growth and achieve greater flexibility in dealing with local needs and requirements which will not only benefit them locally but nationally.
