Sale' to host Energy Days-Interregional conference
The city of Sale', the first Moroccan, Mediterranean, African and Arab city to sign the Covenant of Mayors, will host energy days on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 September, 2012, followed by an International Conference on Energy on 12 and 13 September. According to the Enpi website (www.enpi-info.eu), the events fall within the framework of the Sustainable Urban Energy in the ENPI region (SURE)project, funded by the European Union in the framework of the CIUDAD programme.

''Let's work together to make Sale' a green city'' is the slogan of the Municipality of Sale', a partner of the project SURE, for the energy days, which seek to show the citizens of the city the importance of saving energy and where possible switching to renewable energy sources. During the Energy Days, partner institutions and NGOs will exhibit their work in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy. But housewives and children are the main targets for the energy days. Games, competitions and workshops in drawing and painting will be used to draw children into city management and work with city authorities to protect the environment, promote long-term development and share their innovative ideas with adults. Women will be able to learn how to reduce the family budget while caring for the environment. The energy days will be followed by an interregional conference to encourage other southern Mediterranean cities to follow Sale' 's lead and sign the Covenant of Mayors. The conference will conclude with the official opening of a SEAP pilot activity, the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of the sports hall of the city.

The aim of the project SURE is to contribute to sustainable development of energy in two cities of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument - Polotsk (Belarus) and Sale' (Morocco). (ANSAmed)
