The 2nd Conference on the state of the world by the World Policy Conference (WPC) will take place from 30 October to 1 November 2009 in Marrakech.

Involving politicians, leaders of multinational organizations, CEOs of large companies, experts and researchers, the WPC is designed as a forum for discussion and reflection on global governance in all its aspects, including geopolitical, economic and environmental.

This second WPC, follows the WPC held at Evian in October 2008 (Central-East France). The conference is arranged by the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI).

Launched by Thierry de Montbrial, founder and general manager of IFRI, this meeting is an annual international conference devoted specifically to issues related to the challenges of our time in the context of global governance and international relations.

"For this second edition of the WPC", said Thierry de Montbrial to Maghreb Arab Press, "we rely on the experience and potential of those expected to be present in Marrakech, who share our ambition to find the right balance between the desire for a sustainable development of humanity and a critical look at the world today."

In the program this year, the various aspects of governance and international relations, economic and financial governance, international law, migration, health, energy, agriculture ... Everything related to the current challenges, including issues in geopolitics, the environment, and the economy.

The meetings are structured around the idea of constructive public / private interaction at the highest level. But the number of participants at each meeting will be limited to facilitate successful communication and allowing maximum impact for the plenary sessions.

Nearly 120 participants (politicians, NGO leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, academics ...) are expected to be Marrakech. Among them Amr Moussa, secretary general of the Arab League, Jean David Levitte, diplomatic advisor to the President of the French Republic, and Yusuf Boutros Ghali, Egyptian Minister of Finance. Plenary sessions are scheduled during the conference. They focus on the architecture of political governance, security, macro-economics, economic and financial regulations.
