Friday March 26, 2010
The 3rd Festival "Riders of the Desert" will be held from 30 March to 3 April in the rural town of Lamhara (Rehamna Province), under the theme "Action for plural sustainable development ".
The aims of this cultural event, according to organisers, include promoting the cavalier and Bedouin culture, contribute to sustainable development planning, identify investment opportunities in the region, and promote the rich heritage of the territory in cohesion with development projects.
The festival is an invitation to discover the flavours of the region of Labrabish and Beni Hassan, and the traditions and history of Dir Jbilet and Labha valley. The Spring of Lamhara will be "a crossroads of meetings and a tool for development and tourism promotion," says organisers, indicating that this event, which builds on the identity of this area of the Marrakech Tensift-Al Haouz region, also aims to build a network of institutional and economic partners and involve all stakeholders in the process of local development. A rich and varied program has been created specifically for this edition which includes, inter alia, anthropological and historical presentations, contests of ancient manuscripts, circumcision ceremonies, eye and dental campaigns, donating medical equipment to benefit the clinic of Lamhara, and an exhibition of handicrafts. The Festival will be sanctioned by the awards of the best rider, best horse and the best craft. New comment:
