The French minister of culture visits Jemaa El Fna to vigorously denounce terrorism
The French Minister of Culture and Communication Frédéric Mitterrand, accompanied by Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Yassir Znagui and the Minister of Culture, Bensalem Himmich, paid a visit on Monday to the legendary Jemaa El Fna square to vigorously denounce the despicable terrorist act that blew up the Cafe Argana.

Frederic Mitterrand visited an exhibition in the old Bank Al Maghrib building of some fifty photographs chronicling the legendary Jemaa El Fna during the period from 1910 to 1930, organized within the framework of the commemoration of 10th anniversary the proclamation by UNESCO, the Jemaa El Fna as oral and intangible heritage of humanity. Before the scene, Mitterrand and members of the delegation accompanying him, placed wreaths of flowers, before observing a minute's silence for the repose of the souls of the victims of this heinous criminal aggression.
Subsequently, the ministerial delegation was invited to enjoy a collective painting created by Marrakchi artists (Balili, Benismael Benjkane, Binebine, Bouragba Bustan, Chater, Cherkaoui, Daifallah, Kaafahi El, and El Kahattaf Mourabiti), intended to illustrate the manifest values of tolerance and solidarity and in response to the despicable act of terrorism that struck the place and killed 17 people and injured twenty different nationalities.
In a press statement, Mitterrand said that the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the proclamation of the place Jemaa El Fna as oral and intangible heritage of humanity can not ignore especially after a month of 'criminal attack that blew coffee Argana. And he had to continue to support the Moroccan people otherwise in his will and determinism to assert its commitment to the values of dialogue, peace and mutual understanding which is the symbol and the principle conveyed by Place from Jemaa El Fna. "I really wanted to be there both to express my solidarity with the Moroccans, and my commitment to the values that are his own and whose legendary Jemaa El Fna square is the symbol," said the French minister .
The visit was also attended by the Wali of Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, Mhidia Mohamed, the chairman of the region, Hamid Narjisse, the mayor of Marrakech, Fatima Zohra Mansouri and other personalities .
