The Tourism mega project Oued Chibka at Tan Tan will start operations with the first part of the contruction phase which will be launched in October. It will consist of 8 hotels and 1,851 residential units and a marina, golf course and a medina, the opening is slated for 2015.
The commercial operations for the first part of the project will start next week. Oued Chbika Development, the subsiduary of the group Orascom Development Holding, must soon obtain the permit for building plots.. « work must start in October or next November on a surface area of around 500 hectares», said Kenza Grefft-Alami, marketing director for Oued Chbika Development. She added that "The start of work remains, however, dependent on the granting of the permit."
Three years after the signature of the joint venture contract, Orascom Development (65%) and CDG Development (35%) reaffirmed their commitment to develop the future tourist town of Oued Chibka, on of 3 seaside sites which are an extension of the Plan Azur. « The project will certainly cost 6 billion dirhams in advance», said an official on behalf of CDG Development .Besides a marina with 100 births, the first phase, expected to be completed in 2015, will involve the development of five 5 star hotels , three 4 star hotels, 1,851 residential units, a golf course with 27 holes, a medina, a Museum, a neighborhood of the crafts and trades. There will be restaurants, a fitness center, spa, a cinema, a medical unit and a conference center also on the menu. The realisation of the hotel units should increase the national bed capacity of 7,500 beds. The area of residential units will vary between 80 and 180 m2 for apartments between 300 and 500 m2 villas and between 120 and 250 m2 for riads. The price of apartments is set at 2 million DH in average. The villas will cost between 7.6 million and 12.8 million DH. As for the riads, they will be offered from 2.6 million DH. Oued Chbika Development will also sell haciendas (land to build on a period of 10 years) from 4000-5000 m2 to 1.8 million from DH. At 50 km from Tan-Tan and a total area of 1,500 hectares, Chbika will not only enhance the tourism potential of the southern and coastal areas of Morocco, but also promote economic activity through the creation of 2,500 direct jobs and 12,500 indirect result of the first phase. The architectural authenticity and the strategic position of Oued Chbika between the Atlantic Ocean and the dunes of the Sahara project will be one of the most important tourist destinations of Morocco.
