Organized by the Association of the Salon du Cheval, whose president is His Highness Prince Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, this event is under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. The decision to host this event in the region of Abda Doukkala was taken because this region has an important historical, cultural, agricultural tradition based on the Horse. The region is blessed with its equestrian infrastructure, including the regional equestrian centre and the racecourse which reinforces the importance of the region in terms of breeding and horsemanship.

Over the years, the city of El Jadida has become famous in the national equestrian tradition thanks to its Moussem “Moulay Abdallah Amghar” which gathers more than a thousand riders from different regions of the Kingdom annually. Dedicated to highlighting the cardinal importance of the Horse, this event displays a holistic program which aims at gathering, mobilizing and federating the whole international and national equine industry as well as entertaining the public. The Salon preserves historical links with horsemanship, sports and competition in Morocco.

It is also a great opportunity to showcase the products and services related to the equine industry. A number of institutions for the development and preservation of bloodstock lines are present in the exhibition halls and this is reinforced with forums on breeding and preservation of the Arab and Barb lines.

Thanks to the presence of institutions such as the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse, both on a regional and national scale, the event represents an excellent platform for a high level exchange of views. The international hall has stands from Qatar, Hungary and France amongst others. The regional hall highlights developments throughout Morocco and the artisans role in preserving Moroccan culture manufacturing ornate saddles and riding boots among many other items.

The Show offers both recreation and information and gives locals and visitors the opportunity to enjoy dozens of activities, workshops and entertainments such as the magnificent Touriba and the prize competitions for top breeds for the Arab and Barb horses.

The Lalla Malika Stadium covers 20 hectares and the Salon area is 9 hectares. The organisers expect the total visitors to number 150,000. There are 280 horses for the Tborida, "fantasia", and 120 horses taking part in the championships. The breeds covered include Barb, Arab Barb, pure bood Arab, Anglo Arab, Anglo Hispanic and Sidi Brini..
