The World Bank (WB) approved on Thursday a loan of $300 million for Morocco in support of the second phase of the National Initiative for Human Development (NIHD), aimed at providing improved services and economic opportunities for disadvantaged communities in rural and urban areas of the Kingdom.
The Initiative, launched in 2005 by King Mohammed VI, is "the cornerstone of government strategy (Morocco) to solve the problem of social and economic exclusion in disadvantaged areas," said, on this occasion, the Vice-President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Inger Andersen, noting that by supporting the second phase of the "innovative programme, we are proud to participate in efforts of Government to wider achievements ".
The NIHD 2 funds income-generating activities, improving access to basic services and essential infrastructure in the poorest regions of Morocco.
