"The government is duty-bound to pursue the reforms it initiated and implement them at an accelerated pace," the communications minister, government spokesman, Khalid Naciri, quoted El Fassi, who chaired the weekly cabinet meeting, as saying.
On the February 20 demonstrations, El Fassi said the government responded spontaneously to the will of the organisers, noting that the public authorities and the various social and political forces, including those who did not take part in the demonstrations, showed a spirit of open-mindedness.
He pointed out that the government allowed some 150 foreign journalists to enter Morocco to cover this event.
For his part, the interior minister Taib Cherqaoui gave, during the cabinet meeting, a presentation on the acts of vandalism in many cities after the demonstrations.
These acts, he went on, required the intervention of security forces to preserve the citizens' interests, security and properties.
