As part of the continuous bilateral cooperation between Morocco and the United States, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID-Rabat) launches its new program 'Economic Competitiveness of Morocco," with a budget of $34 million, on Wednesday, June 30, from 10:00 to 12:30 at the Hotel Rabat.
This new program aims to reduce barriers to trade and investment. It will be realized through the acceleration of reforms, strengthening institutional capacity and greater private sector involvement.
It will focus on three complementary and inter-linked lines of action. The first will be devoted to the establishment of legal and regulatory reforms to improve the business climate in Morocco and to promote investment and trade. The second will focus on upgrading and optimization of water resources in order to increase productivity, competitiveness, and employment in the agricultural sector. The third will support the development of a competitive work force, in line with needs of the modern job.market. Two areas are targeted for the conduct of this program: the Oriental region and Doukkala Abda which represent a great potential in economic development and employment. These regions were selected for their vulnerability tto shortage in water carriers for their agricultural sectors and the diversity of their water resources and irrigation technology. New comment:
