With global crisis, govt expected growth ‘seems surreal’: opposition party
The growth of 5.5% put forward by the government statement seems “surreal” in the context of international crisis, especially that the difficult situation, experienced by the European Union, the main partner of Morocco, is expected to continue, said Habib El Malki, politburo member of the opposition party the Socialist Union of the Popular Forces (USFP).
El Malki said, in an interview published by the French-speaking newspaper “l’Economiste,” that reducing unemployment with only one point remains so weak compared to a social reality marked by youth unemployment in particular. El Malki, also president of Moroccan economic centre, criticized the government program for the failure to address the issue of added value or the funding. “The overall objectives are set without means and a program without means is doomed to stand still,” he stressed.
